I've said this before on similar threads, but can you get the parent to narrow down the scope of their request? They probably don't want every piece of information you hold about their child especially if it runs to hundreds of pages (unless they're just trying to make work for you / make a nuisance of themselves, I suppose), they almost certainly have a specific focus, e.g. information about their child's SEN provision, or information following a specific incident. Ask them what they're actually wanting to find out, then give them that.

 

There does seem to be a trend of weaponising SARs in this way recently.

I'm not saying that is what's happening in this case, but you do see more of this happening by the week.

The parents have had a MASSIVE falling out with the school and we're pretty certain that this has been done as a final middle finger to the school.

You can refuse a SAR if you feel it is excessive, and you can also charge for the cost. Worth going down one of those roads?

We have gone ahead with the redaction phase now, luckily our department isn't handling it! We are just hoping that the parents don't come back and request the First/Last Name or Initial query!
