Use Nelson Handwriting Font on M1 Macs

Hi all

 

We recently switched all our Lenovo laptops for shiny new M1 MacBook Airs in our Primary/Elementary school. Everyone seems pretty happy.

However we really need to continue using the Nelson Handwriting Font that our handwriting scheme is based on.

I have contacted OUP to see if they have any plans to make it compatible with M1 Macs and Big Sur, but in the meantime I wondered if anyone else had any experience of this combination or other suggestions for fonts for teaching handwriting that work on these machines.

If it’s a font that just installs to the font book, then I can’t see why it wouldn’t just work straight off the bat on M1?

Yeah, the problem is the cursive version uses a Macro in Word to make the joins.

Ah, so the actual challenge is how to make the joins on word on the mac ...

 

Is it possible to make a paragraph style to do the work. Also, the need for Macros makes my inner security geek very anxious
