chrisjako Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 After migrating to Office365 I now have a redundant 46TB Dell R720 file server I want to make into a Debian backup server, to backup system images of my remaining onsite servers, domain controllers, sql and CCTV including backups off servers in a remote building site. Any advice on what package would be good to install? I've been looking at UrBackup but if anyone has any recommendations I would be glad to hear them
3s-gtech Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 FreeNAS/TrueNAS? Few years since I last installed it - I put it on as an iSCSI backup destination for Exchange. It was very powerful, but took a bit of setting up. It died when the crappy disks I used threw a fit, but I stuck laptop 2.5” disks in an old HP G5 server so not the software’s fault.
mavhc Posted August 19, 2021 Posted August 19, 2021 I installed Proxmox on my server as the hypervisor so I can use zfs for backup, each VM disk is a ZFS file system, so can snapshot and send diffs natively. There's a proxmox backup server too
