GSuite - Chromebooks Asking for Local Data Password

Hi all,

 

We are in the process of deploying a suite of Chromebooks. We have GSuite enterprise hooked up to Office 365 for user sync and end users are authenticating to the Chromebooks via ADFS.

 

The authentication all works fine but once they've logged in with their AD creds the Chromebook then asks them to set a local data password. It will be unavoidable that we will have students forgetting what they set etc. So we want to disable this step all together. I've taken a look through the device settings we can apply to the Chromebooks but there is nothing that appears to link to the issue.

 

Has anyone come across this/managed to fix it?

You managed to resolve this issue? We've come across this issue and we're struggling to work out how to get around this?

I spoke to Google and they directed me to a Google Chrome Credential Passing API that needs to be implemented into the ADFS process for it to work seamlessly. I'm not very confident with ADFS so we managed to get another work around in place. The Chromebooks are being used in location where any student could access them so we forced guest mode and setup policies to install the same Apps/extensions etc as if they were a student. The student then would just navigate to Google classroom and then authenticate via ADFS without the Chromebook then asking for a local data encryption. Problem solved! (For us anyway!)
