[sims] What's New PDF is Wrong

Hi folks,

 

I've got a similar issue to a previous thread. When we apply the termly SIMS update the PDF it shows is from a past version.

 

I've searched on the server and found that old PDFs are located in D:\SIMS\SIMS\Documentation, whereas the correct PDFs are in D:\SIMS\Documentation. I have gone to SOLUS 3 > Environment > Targets > Services > SIMS File Server and it appears to be pointing at the right place (D:\SIMS).

 

Any ideas why the client is picking up this other folder?

We had this a while ago, I remember there being a KB article that helped, so I looked it up:

Documentation on the SIMS server (\SIMS\Documentation) appears to be out-of-date and for the wrong release.

Thanks. That applies for SIMS documentation, but not the What's New PDF unfortunately.

You will need to make sure that on the server, there are no duplications of the SIMS shared folder.

 

Only one SIMS shared folder should exist.

In cases where there are two SIMS folders and one is a Sub folder of the other, you will need to check which of the folders holds the most up to date files and remove the duplicate.

 

For instance

D:\Simsapps\SIMS\SIMS

 

Will need to be tidied up so that only one folder exists

D:\Simsapps\SIMS

 

In some cases, the SIMS .net client will be reading the SIMS .ini file from a location other than C:\Windows.

If for instance C:\Windows\SIMS.ini has not had the required file permissions assigned, the operating system will often write a SIMS.ini file in to the Windows Virtual Store directory

 

Clear the contents of VirtualStore

 

1) Browse to the following location (selecting your own user folder).

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore

2) Delete the contents of this folder.

The duplicate folder could explain it. I think the SIMS share being used is at D:\SIMS\SIMS, although the SIMS drive on a client maps to a share of D:\SIMS. SOLUS is putting the What's New PDF into D:\SIMS\Documentation, and in SOLUS at Environment > Target > Services > SIMS: SIMS File Server it's set to an installation path of D:\SIMS. So my guess is that SOLUS puts the What's New PDFs in D:\SIMS\Documentation because of that, but the SiMS client is taking them from D:\SIMS\SIMS\Documentation. Not sure if changing SOLUS to D:\SIMS\SIMS is a good idea...
