print$ share - can I remove the share?

Just looking through the shares and permissions on the server and found this 'print$' share...

 

It isn't a print server and the Print Spooler service is disabled etc.

 

I think it is added as standard to a server if file sharing is enabled.

 

The print share is a base feature of the File and Print services. Windows does not separate those roles, so you get print$ shares on all file servers"

 

Just wondered if there was any need for it to be there or can I remove it?

 

EDIT: This folder can be accessed by a standard user (read & execute permissions)...

I would expect the answer to be "no" it is probably automatically created by the workstation or the server service (along with C$ IPC$ Admin$ etc). If by some chance you are able to remove the share you will likely find yourself in a "not well tested" configuration, possibly even "unsupported".
