Staff Licensing to move file share to sharepoint and authentication to AAD.

I’ve moved on from my old school and they are now moving fully to the cloud. Files in sharepoint and Authentication using AAD with a new msp.

The new msp wants them to increase all the faculty from A3 licenses to A5. They have said it’s essential for the move. Does anyone know if this is true? Is it for intune perhaps?

I’m still on good terms with my old job and don’t want them getting ripped off.

Which A3/A5 are you referring to? If's Office neither of those will include InTune etc

If it's Microsoft A3/A5 you don't need to upgrade to get any of what you mentioned, unless they're going into very complex restrictions/auditing etc

Thanks, if I remember I had a mix of O365 and M365 licenses. I’ll use those charts.

Unless they are using Teams Phone System which is included in A5.

Although A3 + PBX add on is cheaper than A5

Cheers, no they’ve an on-site pbx which is pretty cheap at the Moment

Do you mean Microsoft A3?

Theoretically? No, not for Sharepoint and AAD. Office A3 would cover both of those. However, if you want Intune, Windows etc... Then yes, you'd want Microsoft 365 A3.

I finally found out the reason the wanted to upgrade the licenses, they are hooting to use automatic labeling and apparently you need A5 licensing for that.
