toddxfisher Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 Hello, I have a user that is having issues when connected on Google Meet. Basically, after user 5 comes into the meeting, that specific user gets pixelated and purple just in their individual box (this happens to every user that comes after as well) And it is not a specific user that is maybe having video problems since it is always random how someone comes into the meeting or what time they come in. I have done the restarts, resets, and re installing drivers, removed extensions on browsers, tried different browsers. I am trying to not have to reset her machine. Any one ever seen this? or know what the problem may be? *I edited out names and faces in the attached image, so that is not part of the problem*
jthompson Posted July 8, 2021 Posted July 8, 2021 I expect it's down to the affected user (the one who's seeing purple people on their screen) having bandwidth issues between their computer and Google's servers on the Internet. Either that or the computer that they're on is struggling to manage more than a few concurrent video streams. Once enough other people are in the meeting (it doesn't matter which specific people), their computer is having to stream that many video streams down from Google at once, and it's struggling. With only 2 or 3 other people in the meeting, it's perhaps managing okay. 1

I will check in to her speeds or anything like that.
toddxfisher Posted July 14, 2021 Author Posted July 14, 2021 Well, the problem is not bandwidth. Hardwired into fiber with numbers off the charts. I do not think resetting the machine will do anything, may be an issue with video card?
Jaan Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Ensure that hardware acceleration is enabled for the browser
Koldov Posted July 14, 2021 Posted July 14, 2021 Or off maybe...? "Ok. Since you had similar problems as I and we had the same 4500u. I did a quick google and found this: https://support.google.com/meet/thread/75329919?hl=en. Basically turning off hardware acceleration in chrome seems to fix the issue. I interrupted my daughter's class and it does seem to work! ETA: Seems to disable virtual backgrounds.
