End of year 'best bits' movies

So I've seen it time and time again..... Teachers or even SLT make a "Best bits" movie to show to all the kids.

 

However..... Do they come to me the day before to make sure it all works?

 

Do they check the sound and everything transitions as it should?

 

Do they book out the hall and projector and put a request to have it setup so I have time to test it al works?

 

No.

 

Instead I'm meant to be a mind reader and get called once everyone is in the hall already, whilst a teacher fiddles with wires and tries to do it themselves and instead causes more chaos, and then they expect me to get it all working in seconds.

 

And then I'm made to feel like an absolute plum walking out the hall with everyone wondering what is going on.

Even better when it's an external speaker wanting to show a video or presentation they've got on a USB... or better still, when they've actually brought in their laptop and want it connected up and oh yeah, the resources are on 'the internet'...

Happens all the time.

 

We now have the main hall calendar so if we notice something we havent been asked about then sometimes we go and do work somewhere else.

 

No matter how many times you email out and say please do X, Y and Z before any assembly/event, it still doesnt happen.

I used to love the Movie Maker files they had brought in on a memory stick rather than the actual exported movie file and all the resources are of course on their home PC so no way to fix it

I got so fed up of just about everyone pulling cables out of the VGA and audio splitters (already set-up to enable them just to plug in), I redid the whole thing so the cables hang up next to the computer.

 

The computer side cables stay plugged in and they just attach to the ones provided, even typed out a nice little instruction note with please and thank you (and emailed it).

 

Literally first day after I did it I noticed cables hanging out of the cabinet.... Yeah, sure enough someone had unplugged the ones from the computer...

Haha! Actually had something like this quite recently!

 

Also the CD that they copied is just a playlist file or CDA file...

Yes! Seen this many times. And because of their mistake and not asking for help, they still blame you.

 

 

 

I find that teachers have this inability to leave wires alone.

I mean there is a reason I have put a notice saying don't turn the volume levels beyond the 12 O Clock mark or to not plug these cables into this port.

 

If I was in a hospital, I wouldnt start picking up a stethoscope and thinking I'm a doctor.
