Hope someone can answer this, possibly stupid, question......

Back in March '20 we ordered 100+ iPads and Jamf 3 year device licenses. To date we have only received a partial delivery and we are not expecting to see any more devices until late in the year due to 'constraints'.

Our Jamf licensing won't be released until full delivery of the order, unless we want to have live licences for devices we don't have.

I was thinking that if I order Jamf licences for the partial delivery and set everything up so they can be used in class, when my full delivery licences are released I can use the balance to add some older iPads to the MDM. The original plan was not to add the old devices to Jamf at all.

My Questions..

If I order Jamf from different resellers will I have ONE Jamf account? Or will I have a Jamf account from reseller A and reseller B? (Not happy with my current reseller)

Many thanks

I'd be chasing those up - we ordered 150+ in April 2021 the bulk of which arrived the following day and the remainder about ~6 weeks later?

Whilst you can order licences from anywhere, the reason you can't have part of the Jamf licensing is because you can not have 2 renewal dates in the same year, Jamf do not allow this. It's either all or nothing.

Thank you @Brimstone, does this mean that if I order additional licences they would be under a different account to be separate from my bulk order?

Believe me Peter, I am chasing. I guess we just chose the wrong supplier this time. Never using this one again though.

No you would just give them either the email address for activation for Jamf Pro or the Jamf Cloud url for Jamf School.

Bear in mind when you activate the licences this becomes your annual renewal date.

I’d be naming and shaming that supplier. That’s honestly breathtaking.

Surely your contract provided for a way to rescind it for nonperformance?

Which model of iPads were they?

Can you not cancel the remainder of the order and order from elsewhere?

Yes please name and shame as we are getting two trolley loads of iPads in September and want to avoid that supplier.

There is zero point in naming and shaming a reseller, this is down squarely to Apple.

You are all aware that Apple, like hundreds of other technology companies are still suffering from lack of component parts???

I can give you plenty of horror stories of Chromebook suppliers taking more than 7 months to supply schools.

Apple suffered like others when all iPads were being diverted to the Dfe and the NHS, I can atone that in March this year Apple's UK distribution channel (no reseller buys direct from Apple) had over 65,000 x iPads on back order and it has affected every AAES (of which there are 12 of them) 3rd party Apple resellers further down the chain suffered even worse with an utter lack of stock.

As the stock situation has still not fully recovered this may well happen again this or next year.

His post says he ordered them in March 20. Over a year ago.

You seem to have missed this.

No, I won't be naming the supplier. They are doing their best. I'm just getting a lot of questions asked of me.

I have had some further communication from the supplier since my OP, detailing the supply constraints, for which I am grateful.

Thank you @Brimstone for answering my question.

Is your original post accurate? The order was placed in March 20?
