Does anyone know if ipads purchased directly from Amazon can be added to apple school manager. Looking around it does suggest that this is the case as Amazon are now an authorised re-seller if you buy from them directly. I wondered if anyone had tried this. Thanks in advance.

You can now enrol any iPad into DEP rather than having the reseller enrol them. The only difference is they can be removed from DEP for the first 30 days if I remember correctly.

Thanks, yes I'm aware but I use ASM with Lightspeed MDM without issue. I just wondered if anyone had bought ipads from Amazon directly and managed to register them on ASM.

  • If the device was purchased directly from a participating Apple Authorised Reseller or network provider, the device must be linked to that reseller’s Reseller ID. The actual date of eligibility is determined by the participating Apple Authorised Reseller’s or network provider’s sales history. The Reseller ID must be added to your list of approved suppliers.

Just to expand a little for anyone who doesn't know. They can be removed by the end user and be fully restored to factory default.

Only within the 1st 30 days after they are added to automated enrolment.

Amazon are NOT an authorised Apple Reseller so do not participate in Apple Automated Enrolment Program so you will have to use a Mac and AC2 to get them into ASM.

You will very shortly also be able to add Macs to automated enrolment in ASM using the new iOS version of Apple Configurator.
