HikVision IP Cameras

We have a number of CCTV HIKVision Camera system (installed by 3rd Party as part of Safeguard bid) the HIK Vision Camera are IP Based ones. I also have some Unifi Cameras on the same vlan.

 

HIKVision system is to monitor building externally and some dooor entry areas while the Unifi Cameras are for IT Suites and the odd corridor area.

 

The HIKVision cameras have statically assigned IP Address while the Unifi Camera are DHCP assigned.

 

When I run an IP Scanner on the CCTV Vlan, only the Unifi cameras IP Addresses are being returned.

 

I am also unable to connect the HIKVision camera via the static IP Addresses.

 

Anyone know why reason why the IP Scanner isnt picking up the HIKVision cameras etc.....

 

 

No ACLs are in places on the switches or VLANs

I've seen similar with Hikvision cameras we have on our network. I suspect they have an internal firewall but I've never pressed the issue enough to investigate further.

Solved it I think....... downloaded a nice piece of software from HIKVision called SADP which scans for active devices.

 

Put my PC on the CCTV VLAN and instantly found all the HIKVision cameras.

 

The Gateway address was still down as the default 192.x.x.x address

 

Soon as I put in the correct Gateway address I could now connect to the camera and also see them on the IP Scanner.

SADP is a handy Hikvision utility, as long as they have an IP address they generally work and gateway isn't too key same with network printers unless using say for scanning the camera work similar.
