[sims] Issue with old data - could someone help

We haven't used SIMS for since October 2019 since moving over to Bromcom but we have had a Subject Access Request for attendance for an ex student.

 

When we log into SIMS we are presented with the SIMS Setup page and unable to do much in SIMS even though nothing much has changed on the system - it has been happily running in the background without any issues.

 

When we click on FOCUS all we see is Systems Manager, Nova T6, Examinations and Exit.

 

I have tried restoring the database from a backup taken in 2020, restoring it to a new install of SIMS on a SQLExpress 2014 install. This is completely away from the live SIMS server and it restores fine however the issue is still present in the restore.

 

We can see all the student information and the linked documents however when we click on Attendance from the student record we get:

 

Fault code: 4972-8698-8000

The type initializer for "SIMS.Processes.StudentLessonMarksProcess" threw an exception : System.TypeInitialzationException

 

I'd appreciate it greatly if anyone could help.

Update, the initial screen on SIMS is asking us to create an academic year. Should this be done before i can actually get into the data?

Update - I've found the issue - an academic year has to be set to use SIMS and look back at the data.
