How does Google now if the users is a teacher or pupil for recording meetings

The Governors have asked if they can record their Meet meetings. Reading the docs Google has the following....

You can record if:

You’re the meeting organizer

You’re in the same organization as the organizer

You’re a teacher signed in to your Google Workspace account, but not a student

So I assume provided the Governor creates the meeting they will be OK to record, but wondering how they know who is a teacher or student?

IrritableTech's guide to video settings based on the OU. Essentially you want to configure it so your student OUs can join a Google Meet, but not create one.

You've also got the clasroom_teachers Google group, which gives teacher rights in Google Classroom. Teachers who self identify as teachers, but aren't accepted in the Group aren't able to do things like marking and Meets until they've been approved.
