OneDrive policies are set... showing in RSoP and local registry... but being ignored.

Ok, so testing with OneDrive on a couple machines we have a Group Policy that is rolled out, both machines have the latest version of OneDrive installed.

 

Group Policy has been set for the machines for the following:

 

Exclude specific kinds of files from being uploaded - Enabled

desktop*.ini

Hide the "Deleted files are removed everywhere" reminder - Enabled

 

Both of these settings have actually applied to the machines as per RSoP, both of the policies can be seen as set in the policy registry keys as they should be.

 

On machine 1, we get a perfect blocking of uploading any file matching desktop*.ini from uploading, even creating new ones deliberately they are automatically stopped from uploading, excellent. Though still getting prompted when deleting files in OneDrive with the 'Deleted files are removed everywhere prompt', drat.

 

On machine 2 though, once any desktop*.ini files are created, the files upload every time, drat. Also when deleting files this machine also still prompts when deleting files in OneDrive with the 'Deleted files are removed everywhere prompt', double drat.

 

Anyone else had these little oddies or got any ideas?

Are both running the same version of Windows, and the same version of the OneDrive client ? Could there be some mismatch there ?

Confirmed, they are both running the same build version of Windows 10 (20H2) and the same OneDrive client, even tried the insider version to see if that made any difference, unfortunately it made none.

Well that was the most obvious thought I had, we've had some policies only kick in above certain versions for Windows and OneDrive.

 

Will try and think some more.
