Hi there

Just trying a new build with DPM 2019

I have have built DPM as a VM, and was hoping to connect this to VDMX to enable dedup backup via SMB 3.0 (as per MS recommendations)

I was recommended not to have DPM running like this, and run it bare metal

But I was thinking running DPM 2019as a VM, creating a disk array and attaching this physically / locally with VMDX that way.. would that work and I can have dedup backup?

Thanks!

DPM should really be build on a physical server and not a VM else you will have all sorts of issues as it's not designed to be used that way - hopefully in the future it will work better in a VM but right now bare metal (as you put it) is the only real practical way to go else you'll have difficulty getting storage arrays and tape libraries to not only connect to the VM but to DPM itself.

Yeah, it is strange that MS says to have DPM 2019 running with DeDup backup, it needs to be a VM on Hyper V Host

I haven't had anyone building a VM of DPM to be honest
