Sonic007 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could help. I’m trying to update a server. I’ve got two hyperV virtual servers and they all work fine. I’m trying to update the host machine which is not on the domain. I currently have NIC1 which is set to dhcp and then a virtual Ethernet switch for hyperV. Having a bit of a crazy day. So if I want to update the host machine do I just give the NIC1 a static IP with gateway and dns. Or will this cause issues to the virtual Ethernet switch? Thanks all.
Jcx500 Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Hows your nics setup , are they in a trunk ? or are they standalone. Our ip is set in our virtual switch as all 4 nic's are in a team/trunk
mavhc Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 Shouldn't make any difference to the virtual switch. From the physical switch's PoV it's a port with multiple IPs and MACs using it
Sonic007 Posted March 31, 2021 Author Posted March 31, 2021 Thankyou. The virtual switch is setup with a static IP and then the correct default gateway and dns. I was worried it relied on NIC1 (the actual physical NIC) therefore didn’t want to change anything on that?.
