Sibelius Sounds Downloader not working

Dear all,

 

We're having a problem with Siblelius 7.1 sounds downloader (i know it's all quite out of date!). I got the link direct from Avid back in 2017. The link still works and downloads the file, it unpacks it, I can run it but it then complains about needing JDK, install that and it still doesn't work.

 

Catalina you get an error pop up "LSOpenURLsWithRole()failed with error - 10810 for the file /Users/Admin/Desktop/Avid_Downloader_mac.app. I read around and it seemed to suggest it was a problem with running it from it's location as a 3rd party app, so I moved it in to Users/Shared but it did the same.

 

Big Sur you get no pop up error.

 

If I right click the Avid_downloader and click show package contents and launch the avid_downloader in a terminal. It says "Could not create the Java Virtual Machine"

 

I'm thinking it's all just too old for the latest Mac OS's but just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas!!
