DFE HP 250 G7 Laptop - Failing Media check using USB Adapter

Hi All,

 

A school I support has got the HP 250 G7 laptops from the DFE scheme. They are trying to image them with USB to ether adapters we already have (Lenovo ones if I remember right). These PXE boot laptops we purchased them for before so we know they do support that. However we're always getting the media check failed message on these HPs. We know the cable is fine as it boots WDS on another laptop without issue.

 

Has anyone managed to image these HPs? If so, with what settings in BIOS or what USB adapter?

We've had 250 G7 and 255 G7 from the DfE, and both had network ports? The drop down ones.

 

But in th epast we've found that building Dell, we had to use a Dell USB adapter, and the same for HP (HP adapter).

Ahhh. Now you see as I support them remotely I took there word they didn't have it. That would explain it failing the media check. Let me ask that.

Yeah, the HP 250 G7 and HP 255 G8s we received all had Ethernet ports on them too.

Thank you, I've asked them to take another look with the advice it might drop down to reveal the full port. I should have thought about that!
