dibekem Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Hello. I’m trying to find out what happens to the user’s data after the user has been deleted from the office 365 admin console. I understand that I have 30 days to recover the data and after the user will be permanently deleted. Is this true? We have a parent who is worried about her child's data staying on Microsoft Teams. Such as her assignments etc. Should I setup a retention policy? Or simply deleting the child will delete everything related to his or her? Any advice would be much appreciated!
pete Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 (edited) What's your retention timescale for work done by student leavers generally? What does your retention and destruction policy say? For Office 365, our retention is 180 days (all data). If the student account is deleted, the files are restorable for 180 days afterwards by IT staff. I'm not sure how it affects submitted assignments for the deleted pupil (how the submitted work is displayed to the team owner). Edited March 1, 2021 by pete typo 1
dibekem Posted March 2, 2021 Author Posted March 2, 2021 Thank you for this. I don't think we have a retention policy in place but this job has been passed onto the schools DPO so I'm off the hook. Thanks anyway!
