Temporary Internet for Exam Day / Appeals process...

Hi Everyone,

We'll be having some work done on the floor housing the main server room (where both our fibre and ADSL line come in) which means the power will be off most of the six week holiday. We also have a secondary server room in a separate building with a replicating file server, domain controller and space to move the server with SIMS on it to, but no internet access. I've seen a few references to using a 4G router as a temporary internet connection on here (e.g http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/187568-temporary-internet-provision-big-ask.html ) - does anyone have any other recommendations, or alternate suggestions?

A 5G router - depends on coverage, obviously, but I'm on a 5G connection at home which works fine for 2 people doing video conferencing at the same time. Should be okay for one classroom as a temporary / backup solution.

I ran one of these while waiting for a leased line to be installed: https://www.comms365.com/product/4g-router-wi-fi-c365-4gds-dm-w/ worked reasonably well. They have 5G models if you have that in your area.

why not just get a temporary FTTC connection put into the other server room? If you've copper lines in there already then you should be able to get one put in easily enough and we find them generally more reliable than 4G.
