Vista not recognise my AVG

Can someone tell me how to make Vista recognise my AVG?

Vista security center is saying I have no Anti-Virus.

Do you have AVG v8.0 or earlier?

It may be a case of AVG running after the security centre loads on logon pestering you when you start your computer you have no AV, when infact it hasn’t loaded yet.

I had this exact same problem. For me, Windows Defender wouldn't turn on either. When you search on Google all you find are newsgroups with the question, and no solution!

 

I did solve it... eventually, and I think [cough: try this at your own risk] it was this:

 

Right-click Command Prompt and Run as Administrator. Type the following command:

winmgmt /verifyrepository

If the system returns "WMI repository is not consistent", run this command:

winmgmt /salvagerepository

The first time you run this it will fail. (It will issue stop commands to the services causing it to fail. It might take a couple minutes for the services to shut down). Run the command again. You actually may have to run it 3 times before it finally runs and completes on its own.

Reboot your system.
