nicholab Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 Who are the Muppets at Apple that don't allow you to rest you password without a trusted device? How do you reset an Apple ID without know the password and without a trusted device?
DJ-1701 Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 In the past people either had to answer security questions or call up Apple Customer Service, might still be the case. Customer Service: 0800 048 0408. Lines are open Monday–Saturday 09:00–22:00 and Sunday 10:00–18:00.
free780 Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 (edited) Because a few years ago a journalist got his Apple ID comprimiaed and all his devices got wiped. https://www.wired.com/2012/08/apple-amazon-mat-honan-hacking/ This is partly why Apple are really paranoid about Security. Can you reset the password if you attempt to logon to icloud.com? Edited February 22, 2021 by free780
DJ-1701 Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 Also alternative support number here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201232#europe
Brimstone Posted February 22, 2021 Posted February 22, 2021 Who are the Muppets at Apple that don't allow you to rest you password without a trusted device? How do you reset an Apple ID without know the password and without a trusted device? It called IT security, I’m sure you’d agree if someone stole your Mac or took control of your Apple ID with a credit card attached to it maybe?
FN-GM Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 Who are the Muppets at Apple that don't allow you to rest you password without a trusted device? How do you reset an Apple ID without know the password and without a trusted device? I don’t see what the issue is?
nicholab Posted February 23, 2021 Author Posted February 23, 2021 So someone has a wiped Mac and iPhone. They lost their Apple ID pass word and some how the current phone is not getting the notification through it not asking for security questions and it not sending a texted to their phone so they can reset it.
Brimstone Posted February 23, 2021 Posted February 23, 2021 They lost their Apple ID pass word You mean they have forgotten it....unless they have clicked in email phishing attack and now someone else has their Apple ID password. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201487
