Migration is not available for this package and what you have posted will have implications on the package and so I cant recommend this. If people have created there own sections and other bits this could really make a mess of there site and so I will not recommend this is done. Sorry

Hi :D

Migration is not available for this package and what you have posted will have implications on the package and so I cant recommend this.

People can make their own mind up but all my instructions say is how to copy content across automatically from an existing 1.0 site to a newly created 1.5 site. :)

It has no implications on the 1.5.x package - nothing is changed apart from content.

It just saves re-typing by hand and nothing else. :)

All other stuff such as media files/documents/menus etc have to be manually edited as they were originally.

If people have created there own sections and other bits this could really make a mess of their site and so I will not recommend this is done.

The opening words of the wiki read

How to migrate an existing 1.x site to 1.5.3

This is not necessary to do if your site is working fine with egJP 1.x.

The ejJP 1.x is a very stable and well supported product and if you've got a lot of content and you've invested time and effort on tweaking your install then its really really not worth any effort in migrating to 1.5.

If, like me, you installed a 1.x site last month and your now building other 1.5 sites and you want your first site to be the same as the new ones, for ease of support, then read on.

It is only intended for those people who have created a basic 1.0 site and not customised it very much. :)

Why not try my procedure out on a standard 1.0 egJP package see if there are any problems whatsoever :)

It will give joy to others and let them reap the rewards of 1.5 :) *

Share and enjoy ...

regards

Simon

* note to others - there's nothing great yet in 1.5 but maybe in the future... :)

the problem comes if people have things like jevents and other modules like this also if they have created a new section this will fail and cause all sorts of linking issues This will only work if you are using origanal layout and have not modafied any section this is why I can recomend it. It took me 3 week to transfer and sort out linking issues. Also users are not transfered and so if a user is auther of a peice of work even if you recreate the user it will not link proplery Your content transfer metherd if fine unless you have made any major changes to the site. IE a secondry school will not be the same as a primary.

Yes :)

I fully agree it is only suitable for sites that haven't done a lot of changes. :)
