Restricting Access For Teams Members

Hi;

 

We are relatively new to MS Teams and need to try and prevent certain activity for specific users.

 

1. How can we prevent specific / all children creating thier own Teams?

2. How can we prevent all children using thier Office 365 Email address to create online accounts (Instagram, Twitch, TikTok etc)?

3. How can we prevent specific / all children initiating thier own video calls?

4. How can we prevent specific / all children using the chat facility in Teams?

You can do some of this for sure by creating or editing the existing policy packages that are avalialbe in office 365, these can be found inside the

"Admin Centres", "Teams", "Policy packages",

 

We have edited the existing "Education Secondary Studnet" policy and applied it to our students. using this we have been able to disable the general chat and calling features as well as creating their own teams.

 

I have not needed to prevent studnets from using their school accounts to sign up for things like tik tok however, so I can't help you there.

Teams are fundamentally O365 Groups, so to restrict who can create a team you need to restrict who can create an O365 group.

I would recommend you to turn off Anonymous access if possible as having this on has caused us some issues with students Teamsbombing other classes/meetings.
