Workstation fails to update to Autumn upgrade - SIMS

Sods law the exams officers PC won't upgrade to the Autumn upgrade. Worked fine for the summer upgrade but refuses to do the Autumn. No other PC's are having this problem.

 

Solus see's it and the agent offers the new update but it doesn't install.

 

Any ideas? Is there a way of forcing an install on it?

Download and extract the Autumn 2020 full update from SOLUS to a folder and then on the exam officers pc install these exe's in this order:-

 

SIMSAPPLICATIONSSETUP

SIMSMANUALSETUP

SIMSAMPARTSETUP

 

That will update a workstation without SOLUS

 

BTW the SIMS client is totally portable so you can always just copy the working sims.net folder from a working pc over the top of a broken pc

Different IP, wired vs wireless, or PC name?

Starting the local agent and cheking for updates can give the failing error notification.

This can probably be found on the server reports.

I usually uninstall the agent from solus then delete the client, delete the sims folder on the client and re add when I get a sticky one.

Best place to look if you want to know why it failed is the agents log file for that install:

 

C:\ProgramData\Capita\Solus3\Deployments\{SOME_GUID_HERE}\{SAME_GUID}.txt

 

Best to choose the most recently used GUID folder then check the top of the Txt file to see it was the right install.

Should look like an ugly mess where the issue occured, longest line in the file if you're not using word wrap (suggest turning it off, makes the log files nicer to read)
