Steven_Cleaver Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Hi Just wondered if anyone had seen this just getting issues with Google Maps not displaying in Internet Explorer for some users, tried looking at compatibility settings, Clear Internet Browser History, in Advanced - Restore Advanced settings etc but nothing seems to work can't see recent update etc that could be causing this. Anyone got any other ideas seen this very occasionally with the odd user but one of the previous usually works. Just had a few users reporting this and I have one device at home with no issues the other has the issue in that can't view Google Maps through Internet Explorer obviously just using another browser for now but we have some Backoffice systems that use Internet Explorer etc.
DJ-1701 Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Although there is no official end of life date for Internet Explorer as of writing, Microsoft no longer support Internet Explorer for Teams and other websites have dropped support for Internet Explorer. I would strongly recommend moving people to Microsoft Edge (the new one) as Microsoft themselves recommend. 1

Completely agree is just we use an Internal backoffice system with all sorts of stuff built in reporting, telephony call logging, all sorts of Database stuff but this system is the one the staff use for virtually everything 6 coders virtually permanently employed building extra functionality into this etc. So is just easier if they do everything or majority of stuff in one browser to be honest though some of our HR stuff isn't supported in Internet Explorer so have had to push them to Microsoft Edge for that. Is just that the Google Maps works for some users in Internet explorer so just seeing if their is a fix .
kmount Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 May be worth looking at IE mode within the new edge browser (similar to enterprise mode for IE11 was) so you can have those sites which are clinging onto IE with everything else modernised. May help allow your developers focus on working for the future than continuing to develop on dead technology by porting aspects over at a time. 2
paulkerton Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 Well, this is well timed for you! https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/2020/12/ending-support-for-ie11-for-all-google-workspace.html 1
Steven_Cleaver Posted December 9, 2020 Author Posted December 9, 2020 Hi I completely agree with comments in regards to the move away from IE and to be honest we are using other browsers as regards other things but can't use these for all the Backoffice we do as the company has invested to much time and money and wouldn't be easy to move this to new browser platform and to be honest is way beyond my remit. I was just really after if anyone had seen this in Internet Explorer and had a work around to the Google Maps issue in IE 11.
Koldov Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 (edited) I don't see in your OP what exactly the problem is? Is it not displaying? Is it showing anything at all? Have you gone through all the Internet Options > Advanced settings and made sure they match with a working machine (things like use 'software rendering' or something like Javascript)? Edit: Is is set to 'Map View' (I'm guessing so), not Street View, or terrain, or some other option? Edited December 9, 2020 by Koldov

Very odd, it might be worth while pressing F12 clicking on Network and trying to reload it and see if anything is getting blocked.
Koldov Posted December 9, 2020 Posted December 9, 2020 (edited) OK here as well... Version: 11.1577.17763.2 Google advise turning off 'Compatability View' but you said you've tried that... Does right-clicking give you any clues? Before it fully loads there IE options, then after it loads for me there are Google options... Maybe you can see if there are any errors when using 'Inspect Element'?** If all the 'Advanced Settings' are the same on the affected machine and the 'good' one there are some old posts (because... IE11) about Windows 8 and 7 that might help? So far I've found.... resetting IE11 to default settings works for some as does just pressing F5 to refresh or signing in to Google (or signing out of Google)... removing google.com from the list of compatibility mode (or adding it then removing it)... adding google maps in the trusted sites list... There must be some difference in the working and non-working machines, got to be just a question of finding it! Edit: **F12 as @DJ-1701 said... Edited December 9, 2020 by Koldov
