Koldov Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Whilst I have been perusing the Event Viewer on the server I have occasionaly come across the once per reboot message that the server is using NTLM authentication for something and what with the recent security update of the NTLM velnerabilty I have enabled auditing in preperation. It would appear that the only message I get is a regular information event that shows the Headteacher's Macbook (using the Remote Desktop app). I had to set this up quickly to a VM with SIMS (along with most of the Office and Outlook apps) as he doesn't like Microsoft Windows and he wanted a Macbook when he started. So, before I start digging around for alternatives - is there a way to force the Remote Desktop app not to use NTLM? Obviously I'm concerned come January he will be blocked from using NTLM...
Koldov Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 Maybe the HTML5 RDWeb ? Looks like I would have to create an RD webserver role for that? Seems a little bit excessive... Does anyone else use the Remote Desktop app to connect a Macbook to a Microsoft server? Is there a better way to do it? Or am I going to have to look into making this Macbook some sort of exception when NTLM is blocked?
