Bromcom and Capita B2B

How is everyone else who is using Bromcom (Cloud version), sending attendance information to the LEA? We were just using the Capita One Export in Bromcom to send the attendance info to an email address and then that person sending it off to a person in the LEA however the LEA now wants us to install the Capita B2B Open software so that it sends the data to the LEA servers direct.

 

The only way i can see to do it is to set up an internal FTP server so that Bromcom can send the data to that internal FTP server using Capita One Exports in Bromcom and then the B2B software sends it to the LEA server. Is this how others have done it? Im not overly keen on setting up an FTP server and exposing it outside of the network as ive no idea how secure that would be. Is there another way?

 

Capita/LEA dont have their own FTP server servers either apparently so this would have been ideal.

The method you outlined would be the best way to schedule sending Capita One exports to this Capita B2B Open software directly (via your own FTP server of course). The only other option available from Bromcom would be to download the export files yourself and upload them to this B2B software manually.

 

I cannot speak to the best option regarding security for setting up your own FTP server I'm afraid.

What kinds of FTP do you support, FTPS, SFTP?

On Bromcom it just had the fields to setup and FTP server and doesn't mention FTPS or SFTP. I have asked Bromcom for clarification. Is setting up the built in FTP server on server only FTP or is it FTPS or SFTP? Im guessing FTP is not not secure?

 

UPDATE: Bromcom have just come back saying its only FTP as secure FTP hasn't yet been implemented.

No dont think so. Based on when it sends it via email it isn't

That's also bad, sort it out Bromcom, it's 2020, encryption should be the only option
