Gaming Laptops

Hi.

 

Currently looking at the gaming laptops. I dont have the space for a desktop/desk currently.

 

I seem to be out of date with current gaming hardware.

 

Is there much difference between a GTX 1660ti, 1650 and a 2060? (other than the 2060 is the newer)

 

Not looking to spend silly money. Laptops that i have been looking at have a intel 9th or 10th gen i5 with the above. (may be 9th gen i7 1660ti)

The 2060 is actually the oldest of the three. The biggest difference is going to be the raytracing support of the 2060. Here are the three in some benchmark comparisons, but beware that laptop variants can have the power adjusted to match the cooling capacity of the laptop it's going in, so can vary.

Happy to see if I can get you the most bang for you buck @newpersn

We've been doing a fair few Gaming Laptop custom builds this year. @bald_pig has smashed it with those links above. If you don't need real-time ray tracing for the games you'll be playing then the 1660Ti will be great. Saying that, the price differential aint that geat nowadays anyway, so the 2060 will allow for some 'future proofing'.

Just seen a good offer on a laptop. i5 9300H, 8gb Ram, 512 ssd, But has a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650? (Yes i know the ram is low.

 

I'm not going to play the newest games. But games like Cities, Age of empires 2 (would like to try 3rd) and Euro truck sim 2 (I forgot i had that in my steam library)

Wifes going half. Within my budget most have ram at 8gb.

 

Although just found a AMD 5-4600H 8gb ram With a 1650ti. 512gb nvme. Within budget.

That will beat the 1650 by a few percent, and the Ryzen processor is a better all rounder with more threads. What’s the rest of the spec like? Edited October 31, 2020 by 3s-gtech

Wifes ordered this. Well same laptop but from a different website as it was slightly cheaper with free p+p.

 

I will up the ram as well.

id advise against an alienware i had one it lasted about 18 months then the video card died (i can still use intel onboard but no hdmi out and no games and if i enable the 1070 in device manager the machine will bsd in an hour or less

Well. It turned up. And so far so good. I've thrown cities skylines and two point hospital and it copes. And I haven't heard the fans go full force yet.
