Hi

Just would like to see if anyone has experiences of implementing iSAMS CHQ SSO? We had iSAMS rolled out last summer and CHQ claimed that user could channel through iSAMS to login to CHQ, it was working fine until recently we have realised that some parents have used a different email address to complete their iSAMS parent portal registration as result CHQ validation fails because parent's data don't match with what it is in CHQ.

Please any experience sharing and suggested solution would be much appreciated. because now it is affecting over 100+ families

Thanks

"CHQ" - are you talking about: https://chqgroup.co.uk/

We don't use the above system, but we do use iSAMS. How is CHQ handling logins - via iSAMS' own "identity" platform or by getting a list of parent email addresses from iSAMS and creating login credentials on its own platform? In iSAMS, a pupil can have multiple contacts (parents, legal guardians, etc) associated with them, so in theory you could export multiple email addresses assocoated with each pupil.

CHQ's support is probably the best place to ask about this - my guess is that you'll need to update your data in iSAMS with the appropriate email address for each parent.

We had this issue with Parents Evening System. We had to go through and adjust parent emails as we found them, in consultation with the parent. Very annoying but no way round that I can tell.

Thanks Qwerty94,

I have had a quite a few back and forward threads with Oliver, but he was saying that it is iSAMS unable to pass the subject ID and person ID over. it is because the parent are using a different email address than the one kept in iSAMS to register a parent portal account. basically, if I understand it correctly, Oliver were saying because of that CHQ is unable to validate the person match it with the correct student profiles.

it would have been easier if we were told earlier that parent must use the same email as they receive the parent portal account invitation to complete the registration but it is too late.

We have generated some report and identified that more than 100+ families that are using a different email address, and some have reported that they are unable to SSO to CHQ through iSAMS

We just would like know have you encountered this issue? if so what is your workaround? or did you ask parent to register parent portal with the same email address as they have in iSAMS from the beginning?

Any advices or suggestions would be grateful received.

Thanks

We checked with the parent what email they wanted to use and then made sure every email, parent portal, contact and username, was the same.

Don't understand why ISAMS have made username seperate from email and allowed the contact to be different, it is just adding confusion. It also means when a parent changes their email we have to remind or chase the office staff to make sure it is changed everywhere. We have already had an instance where a parent was having an issue because everything front end was showing the correct email but in their backend it was linked to the wrong parent.

Hi Ken

We did have a similar issue with some of our Parent accounts, however, I'm not sure the issue was to do with different email addresses (it may have been, this was a while ago!). Firstly to log in to CHQ our Parents/staff have a 'iSAMS' logo next to the CHQ username and password box, they click, go to our iSAMS login screen, login and then get redirected back into CHQ. Is this how your SSO works?

Secondly, the issue we had was the 'Parents' contact in Pupil Manager was not set as the Pupils home address (tick box), we had to go through and mark the records as the pupils home address and then after the next sync they were able to login.

Could this be your issue? Without checking I'm sure we may have some parents with different email addresses.

I have checked with Rae (Integration Manager of iSAMS) that have rolled out a fix to force parent to use the same email as they receive the invitation for parent portal registration for their username. however, when I asked more when it was rolled out and how it works he has just gone silence.

it would have been mush easier if it forces parents to use the same email kept in iSAMS.

I think we will have to do the same, just to make sure the email they have in iSAMS same as the one they use to login to parent portal.

Thanks

Hi qwerty94

1. Yes, we asked them to login to iSAMS parent portal first, and then redirect them to CHQ with SSO enabled.

2. I think, there might be where the issues are as parent ticked with the "home address" that their email address is different to the one that use for registering with the parent portal as the result CHQ fails to validate the account, subsequently link with the student profile in CHQ in order to grant SSO.

I am not 100% sure but this what I have gathered from Oliver of CHQ.

it seems that we will have to contact all parents who have a different email address as their portal username and change it for them

Thanks
