Does anyone use this software at all?

 

I've been given a CD-ROM and told to 'put it on the server'...

 

Ususally with this sort of request I will be able to dig into the CD and find stuff they can run or what ever resource they need and I'll put it in a folder on the server.

 

However, this one has stumped me because (ashamed as I am to admit it on here, within earshot of the trolls) I've never installed a program on the server for the staff to run before.

 

And yet that is all there appears to be on the CD, just an installer... There is obviously provision for it to be on the server and run this way as the license clearly states 'The licensee may: Load and store the material on a single central computer ("Networked Server") and servers the entire internal computer network'.

 

I know it's a silly question, but I don't put the CD in and install the program on the server do I?

Without knowing the specifics the answer is yes.

 

We have a designated server for Applications.

 

It has a shared D:\ drive which the staff see as the N:\ drive.

 

On to this D:\ drive on the server we install APPS that can run over the network...

Install it on a random computer, see what files it's installed, copy those to the server, make a shortcut somewhere.

Got far too much going on here at the moment, forgetting even the simple stuff now...
