MartinT Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Is there any consensus on the cause of echo over the audio for some Teams connections, which does not appear to be the fault of any of the equipment (i.e. sometimes you get a perfect call, other times some callers hear an echo, even with everyone but one muted)? Also, do you ever get occasional freezes or buffering despite having plenty of bandwidth your end? Can this be an issue at Microsoft with 'call home' checks?
chazzy2501 Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Teams will try and use the default communication device. You'd have to check each machine to see what that is, this could have been altered by the end user and can also be overridden in the teams app itself. The variables are just too broad to say definitively. You have no choice but the educate the users. I like usb headsets as windows will always make that the default communications device AND teams will try and use it. (even if plugged in after a call is started) I find the Teams App is better than the web version at dealing with devices. Echo could be someone sharing their desktop WITH the use system audio enabled. but I've not had this issue. People can unmute themselves and be listening on speaker.
