Just searched this up on Edugeek myself today for a giggle as its still working for me here so we are abusing it rotten however all the Microsoft documentation online says we shouldn't as its an A3 or A5 license and no sign from google of this being free and extended...

Ho hum.

It's still working with A1 but no-one knows for how much longer. Just bought 3 x A3's yesterday which I'll add one to our Producer account just to be sure.

I did email M$ direct to ask but all I got back was a cut and paste saying A3/5 for live events

Did the same email to them months ago and got the same response so its their issue not ours!

I will just keep using it until it stops then just buy an A3 license at a bank breaking fiver a month :D

Teams Live event works for us but the 3rd party encoder element doesn’t (that’s greyed out). I spoke to Microsoft today and they said the option could drop off at any point. We also got A3 for £13 per year.

Anyone have any updates on this? Is it still available?

Thanks

James

Just on a side note as was reading about another change but noticed this on the admin panel:

MC225752, Stay Informed, Published date: 3 Nov 2020

Updated December 29, 2020: We have updated the post to reflect that these extensions will be in effect until June 30, 2021.

Note: This change does not apply to customers with A1 plans. Those plans will no longer have access to Live Events beginning January 1, 2021 as previously communicated.

We are extending the temporary limit increase for live events in Teams, Stream and Yammer.

So A1 customers will lose Live Events ability? It was extended to the end of the year and we have used it many times so I think we will be buying at least one A3 license as I suspect we will do more events in 2021.

Thanks for the heads up as I missed that.

I've just checked as I think our head is planning a Q&A with parents before we return next (if we do) and we do still have the ability to create a Live Event.

Not sure what to do? Get an A3 purchased just incase we lose the ability soon?

Personally I went and got 3 A3 licenses as a fail-safe as it just wasn't worth the risk of it not working (you only need an A3 license for the Live Events Producer).

For approx £25 each it was a no-brainer

Owwww looks like i've finally lost the Live Event option now within Teams...

Anyone else confirm?

Wonder if this is intentional or a side affect of the poop storm yesterday.

Ours is still there, but anecdotal says tenants are dropping off fast :(

We have found that the Advanced Communications for Faculty license will give us Live Events and only for a couple of quid a month per person so around £22 a year :) Just need one for each Presenter/Producer

I could be very wrong on that one though, can't find where I got the heads up on it now... I can't test until live events actually goes for us! This might just add on the bigger live events(up to 20,000) and not live events itself. There is a trial for it, so maybe someone who has lost LE, can get the trial, apply a licence, wait for x amount of MS time, then see if they get LE back

can take 48 hours, as per MS time...

Urgh really... I thought that was just policies and API changes. Would of thought licensing would of had a higher replication priority.

Good Morning, we have applied the Advanced Communications for faculty to a number of staff but even after a week live events is not back. If I change the user to a A3 trial though it returns. Is there any documentation found that applying the Advanced Communications for faculty should return live events?

Cheers

Unfortunately we have found this doesn't add Live events :( it only enhances live events you get from A3, sorry for the misinformation, we were led to believe this was true
