Create a teachers desktop shared link to onedrive?

We've moved some teachers over to Onedrive for their personal files and it seems to work well using the inbuilt Windows 10 client.

 

Has anyone with a shared desktop managed to create a shortcut on it to the users Onedrive files? Is there something like %OnedDrive% that you can use similar to %appdata% in a shortcut?

 

A google isnt turning up much....

if you have left the defaults you can probably create a shortcut to something like c:\users\%username%\onedrive but i havnt tried it and im doing that off the top of my head so the path might be wrong but it does create a folder in their userprofile

Thanks that helped me get to the solution, I ended up using this and it seems to work so far:

 

%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\OneDrive\OneDrive.exe

 

That pops up with their files in an explorer box! Very cool, no more mapped drives!!

Also %OneDrive% should work.

 

For the couple of schools I am at, we redirected folders we wanted synced to the OneDrive folder.

Thanks I changed to %OneDrive% and it does indeed seem to work just as well, should really have tested it as it was a guess

Hi - quick one hopefully, we are using the silently migrate thing and all works ok, but looked at a similar style to this before as an alternative for some niche case users. With "Update" on the Folders in user preferences I am getting duplicate folders in the userprofile location (it doesn't really seem to matter as the OneDrive ones are getting picked up.) Is this also happening for you ?

Looking at a few laptops I have applied this to, yes, the folders do seem to exist on those I have checked. The content in them is blank though, this might be due to the fact they have previously logged in and then the redirect has taken place.
