Upgrading SIMS Clients without local admin rights/Solus 3

Hopefully a quick and easy question, we've got an issue with regards to SIMS where we want staff to be able to upgrade the SIMS client without being a local administrator on the machine. There's also not a SOLUS 3 install on site to do this with (long story). If I recall rightly you used to be able to make SIMS upgradeable for everyone by running SIMSperm.bat or something similar from the SIMS share. Is that still the case and are there any other things to be aware of ?

Thanks for the help in advance.

SIMS client is effectively a portable app, you can install and run it from anywhere you like as long as the connect.ini is right....

Yup, pretty familiar with the connect.ini. Does that have any bearing on upgrading SIMS though?

Use GPO to set full control for your staff security group on the sims folder, this is what we did before solus 3 and the users could then update sims on their own login.

That's a good shout. Out of interest, is the bare minimum to upgrade SIMS full control on the directory or is there something more granular?

I've always given full control to only our staff security group. I guess everything but full control would be adequate if have read and write but cannot say i've tested that.
