Joanne Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I have a vista laptop here with a full C drive even though there isn't much on it. there is a windows.old folder with stuff in it... does this get used by vista? I have nothing to compare it to!
ninjabeaver Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Thats usually the folder that you get when you reinstall / upgrade your OS without formatting it. I doubt Vista would access it, but I'm not gonna say delete it just in case. You could try renaming it to something else though. See if it throws a wobbly back at you. 1
Geoff Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Here's the KB article on what it is, and how to get rid of it. How to remove the Windows.old folder that is generated when you perform a custom installation of Windows Vista 1
gshaw Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Yeah I remember seeing that at the Vista imaging conference I went to... upgrade doesn't actually "upgrade" as such... more of a side-by-side install leaving the old XP files there afterwards
