I am interested in Capita SIMS for our school. we are a small independent school in India with around 100 students

Can you tell me your thoughts on SIMs and if there are any better options? Is there also a demo database of SIMS?

Yes SIMS does have demo databases for development partners and schools however you need to contact Capita directly for that as no one on this forum is going to be giving out sensitive info about our MIS systems.

We have been using different systems to manage different things so we were looking for an MIS system that would make data secure and have everything in one place rather than seperate systems .

Is there a reason you have identified SIMS - have you considered other MIS? Would a cloud based system be suited to your requirements? Others on Edugeek have found that MIS other than SIMS reduce the need for the number of bolt-on applications, so that could help with your desire to have everything in one place and could help with data security.

As I've said, we cannot give you access to any demo databases or any logins as those are only for licenced customers.

Nobody can give you access to demo databases except the vendors. Those who have a MIS would be violating their contract terms to pass these on; they may be willing to act as a reference site once you have considered your options.

 

If you are interested in a MIS, contact the vendor directly and they will be happy to provide you with what you need.

 

My last school was a small prep school. Independents have very specific MIS needs with regards to fees and charging which are addressed better in the products aimed at this sector.

 

SIMS is primarily aimed at the maintained sector... and a pretty clunky and expensive system... and is unlikely to suit your needs. iSAMS, Double First Engage, Schoolbase, and WCBS Pass are all widely used in the independent sector.

 

I too think your budget will prove to be too small

I would certainly recommend that you look into a cloud MIS, rather than SIMS .net at the moment. We are using Bromcom and we've had a lot of success with it, especially in the situations we find ourselves in at the moment with the balance between on-site and remote working.
