Onedrive Known folder move and Folder redirection

Hi all,

I am looking at moving users home folders to Onedrive and thought of using known folder and the Onedrive sync client to do it. I was under the impression that known folder move supported network locations now so thought I would give it a try with a test machine and user. At the moment we are using folder redirection for home folders.

 

I have enabled "Prompt users to move Windows known folders to Onedrive" via GPO however this is the error I get. I have clicked learn more and unfortunately there isn't any further information about this error.

Has anyone else managed to move data to Onedrive using this method or am I just barking up the wrong tree?

Yeah.. you can't do this if folder redirection is in place. You need to turn that off and use sharepoint migration tool to move them over.

When using the Sharepoint Migration Tool did you find out if you could exclude folders?

Sorry for dragging this thread back up, but by folder redirection being in place, is that simply just for My Documents or literally anything to do with folder redirection policies?
