All in one printer recommendations

A topic we all hate printers, what I have does me at home and its not something I purchase very often but helping out a friend who needs a new one.

 

Currently has a mono printer/scanner/copier that was used for just copying I think, also has an A3 inkjet printer for printing plans (he is a man of all trades). Need a new mono replacement but wondered if there were any A3 colour version out there suitable and small enough for home, with wireless as its to sit away from the computer.

 

I am struggling with A3 so looking at an A4 laser with wireless, must have a scanner function on it. Any recommendations for something that isn't going to break the bank, HP & Lexmark are two sticking out at me along with a Canon on eBuyer at the moment.

 

Any recommendations, anyone got something at home that fits the bill and can recommend?

I haven't touched Lexmark in years due to the cost of ink.

 

I've got an Epson Workforce, whilst not laser the ink is rediculously cheap on eBay, I usually get packs of around 20 cartridges for around £15

I'd not even looked at toner prices for Lexmark, last time I looked they were not too badly priced. I'm looking at trying to do away with inkjets, for the use it will get its not massive, also got another printer that has been destroyed due to ink so trying to stay away if i can.

it all depends on how much they are going to be printing. For low throughput, I tend to go for the Epson Workforce - decent prints, good running costs and reliable. Not had any issues with cartridges either, apart from a really cheap set of inks someone picked up from ebay, but was easy enough to clean. If they are going to be printing, the Canon Pixma range is really good and got one for my parents when my dad got into photography so he could show them around without having to get them professionally printed or having the extra kit, but having 2 different black inks does add to running costs. For laser, HP are reasonable, but not as good as they were in the past, and i've been daily driving a Canon laser at home for years with minimal problems.
