Default 150% scaling pain

Argh, its days like this I want to remove Windows 10 and replaced it with anything else!

 

We've just installed some nice new touch screens and plug them into our PCs - as the PCs only have VGA/DVI at the moment we have the DVI to the monitor and VGA to the large screen. Resolution for both is a 1920 by 1080 which is ok for both screens

 

But Windows 10 in its wisdom sets the default scaling to 150% for every user on login, which makes the monitor look wrong. The only way around this is to create a registry hack to set the scaling to 100% for the display on that PC, which means its unique to every flaming PC - which means we have to do this specifically for 40+ PCs now

 

Surely you'd think you could set the display for all users, but no - its has to be done for every user, or modify the default ntuser.dat file.

I really really REALLY want to like Windows 10, but sorry it's basic stuff like this that is broken, faulty, missing or simply a great big pain in the ass to configure is what gets me with Windows 10.

 

It's like it's still in beta but has mad a major public release.

Yeah - its like they didn't bother finishing the control panel stuff. The setting for 'custom scaling' is supposed to be for all users/monitors but it simply doesn't do anything

 

The only way to do this is to edit the ntuser.dat for each PC, and change each monitor setting as they will be unique to the PC/Monitor combination. Welcome to Windows 10 in 2020....
