3CX and Office 365 User Integration

Has anyone turned on the 3CX / 365 automatic exension option? I want to know what it actually does.

 

The website is really vague and the control seems to be a single switch on/off.

 

There is no information on how to control what happens. For example, how does it choose an extension number for a user. How do I make it aware that I only want staff, not students, do I have to manually assign external numbers, or does it pull then from somewhere?

 

I really don't want 1000+ extensions created that I have to sort through!

 

I suppose this maybe isn't a feature aimed at schools.

I've got it setup to just sync Calendar presence, so staff are marked as DND if in a meeting. There should be other tabs that allow you to control what is and isn't synced, but they may only appear once the link is setup.

 

I don't have user sync setup as the limiting settings are very basic, either all, specific users or exclude users.

 

You are right though, in a company it is probably a God send, in a school not so much use.

I was looking at it for our company and it does have its short comings.

 

The extensions just start counting from number 1 and you can’t control who is assigned an extension via groups etc.

 

Think I am going to avoid it for the time being.
