AngelaCS Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 Hi, I am really struggling to get volunteers to help with my research, busy schools and staff, students off. I am based in Congleton, but a student at Liverpool University. As part of my MSc Computer Science research, I have designed a workbook to help students design algorithms for correct programs. The workbook needs to be evaluated, preferably by a Computer Science teacher, as it was designed for KS4 and KS5 students. I am struggling to get involvement from local schools and have already approached CAS, BCS, Teach Computing, TES and posted on their forums. Is there anyone out there... Angela

Angela I dont want to put anyone on the spot, would it be possible to share what you want them to do with an indication of how long it will take to complete?
AngelaCS Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 Hi Zammo, The workbook, 35 pages, has Python and Prolog tutorials, introduction to mathematical proofs, termination theory and stepped practice exercises and exercises. It has further support website links for more explanation. The students work their way through constructing algorithms in a logical way then program in Python v3. The research would require filling in the human participants form, assessing the workbook, a test plan and evaluation form as well as an online questionnaire. Probably up to two hours of time. I am happy to recompense for people's time doing it, but obviously at a reasonable charge. I appreciate feedback will be varied.

Is there anyone out there... Evening Angela, In all fairness I do think you're being a bit harsh to all these communities here, I'm a member on most of those you mentioned above and you've only posted on the forums today at about 2~pm (there's 6 threads you've posted this on between TES and CAS alone!), also bearing in mind that schools (being the majority of the members on these forums) are already out for summer holidays Happy to have a look over the document when I get a minute, but if you are in a rush for a deadline etc will need to know in terms of timings of when you're expecting this by? Will drop an email over Steve 1
AngelaCS Posted July 21, 2020 Author Posted July 21, 2020 Hi Steve, very grateful for your help thank you. I appreciate how busy everyone is. I am looking at the end of next week but the human participant survey comes first. Angela
AngelaCS Posted August 3, 2020 Author Posted August 3, 2020 Thank you so much for all your help in reviewing my research booklet. I am now collating responses and making improvements. Have a great summer and take care.Angela
