Toshiba- No Bios Access

I set a supervisor password on my Toshiba laptop. Now I can't access the BIOS at all.

 

Have tried pressing F2 & INSERT but nothing. Whatever I do the laptop just boots to windows login screen.

 

Any ideas?

This is my method. Wait until just before the logo appears and press INS. It takes a number of goes. Or at least it does for me.

You only get prompted for supervisor password if it was started from the correct power state. So go into locked bios first tell it to power off. Then power on with the INST trick and it should prompt for password.

Is there a way to set the correct power state without accessing the BIOS first? I have tried pressing F2 but no matter what I do it just boots straight to the Windows login screen.

You just need to start it from cold (powered off completely) and use the INS key to activate BIOS password screen, but it sometimes takes a few attempts. Trying to access from a restart does not work. Why Tosh have to change the BIOS key from F2 to INS when you password protect it is beyond me...

Thanks- that was my first thought but it's like all the local accounts have been wiped. I get to the login screen but no login credentials work.

Well, that's a different problem...

 

But as for the accessing the bios issue (power states), I have previously noted that on some old HP desktops and our old Toshiba laptops, it is very difficult to access the bios when 'fast start-up' is enabled in Windows.
