Hi there

We have just noticed today that the assignments tab in Teams for all users has dissapeared. In the Teams Admin Center everyone currently has the default global policy applied however I have noticed this policy does not have the Assignments App within it and I am unable to add it in as it does not come up as an option when searching for it. Under manage apps I can see however that the assignments spp is ALLOWED. Has anyone come across this as I have put a ticket in with Microsoft but they are being useless and have no clue?

I assume it is supposed to be listed as a pinned app within the policy. Odd thing is that when editing a policy a message pops up stating that because we have educational licenses applied to our users the assignments app should be added to new policies by default however it is not either for the default or for a new one...

Thanks in advance

Hi, we had the exact same problem. I opened a support ticket with Microsoft and they did something behind the scenes and fixed it. I'll get the reference number for you if you want tomorrow?

Thankyou, I would really appreciate it as I have found the support rep I have spoken to very unhelpful.

It took a couple different agents but got there in the end.

Ticket # 19659958

Hope this helps!

Thankyou, I really appreciate this. I have found the agents I have dealt with in the past to be useless. Quite often they have no idea whatsoever...

Like I said before absolutely useless, they only wanted to do a workaround by editing the APP Permissions policy to allow the Assignments App and block everything else which I would rather not do. They have said an actual fix for the issue has no specific timeframe and the ticket must be closed in the meantime because support tickets can not be left open for more then 5 days. What the heck...

That is just silly I wonder what "fix" they did for us then? They didn't give us any details. I think it will be worth trying to escalate that ticket to another department. Not sure how that will work or how you'd go about it. I find it easier to talk to them on the phone to get further.

Let me know how it goes!

The agent said that they used the same workaround for you that I said I did not want which is to edit the app permissions policy and allow the assignments app but block everything else. I suspect however that he is not being entirely truthfull...

Quick update, the assignments tab has all of a sudden reappeared and I am hoping it remains this way. For clarity though I have noticed the Assignments App is still not listed as a pinned app within the global policy so my question is now is this normal? Would you mind having a look at your global policy in the Teams Admin Center under Teams Apps\Setup Policies and let me know if the assignments App is supposed to show up in here or not otherwise I suspect I still have an issue on some level...

Strange because logically you would think it would be visible and therefore possible to remove or add like any other app you may have pinned. I found the below which contradicts this theory but ultimately it is what it is now because I don't have the time or patience to chase Microsoft for clarity. Issue it it makes troubleshooting much more difficult when issue like this occurs because you do not know if what you are seeing is normal or not unless it is properly documented somewhere...
