Ive got a server 2008 r2 server that ive needed to remove a while ago, its gone offline this morning. Not sure the error yet.

Its a DC but ive moved all roles off a while ago, whats the best way of removing this DC if i cant get it back online tomorrow?

I think if your current DC's are 2016 or above if you delete via AD it cleans all the metadata and stuff for you automatically.

Yes it should do sorry forgot about that. Just watch out for the old DNS records as scavenging might not remove them. Best to check DNS after.

But also you will need to give it time to replicate.

Do the check via cmd: Repadmin /replsummary

You may need to check as well the FSMO roles are not held on the old server as you might need to seize the roles. Via cmd: netdom query fsmo

Managed to get it back online.

Going to go for a Demotion tomorrow.

Never had to do this before - So is it just a DCPROMO I have to do?

All the FSMO roles are on 1 of our other 2 Win2k12 Servers, I've changed DNS on all servers and switches away from that server.

There's nothing else I have consider is there?

DCPROMO to remove it. https://tekbloq.com/2017/05/15/decommission-uninstall-a-windows-2008-r2-domain-controller/

Nothing else that I can think of.
