genesis Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 Hi We have move to 0365 and would like to have email back up in place. Deleted items retention period is only 14 days.If emails are deleted from users mailbox and if there is any litigation enquires arises , it will not be possible to recover the deleted emails from a users mail box. We use veeam to back up virtual servers and i was told the veeam can do a 0365 backup on site. Please suggest what type of back up you are using if you are using 0365. Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks
KK20 Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 (edited) or you could set the purge time to be your compliance policy. That way ediscovery will still search the purge folder but end users cannot recover from the purge folder. If you must have a local backup then yes, you need a backup program with access to the APIs. There are a number of people who do this - veeam being one of them. We are running hybrid exchange with no plans to move offsite at the moment although we will eventually. chaplic Posted June 26, 2020 Posted June 26, 2020 You can set a WORM-style infinite retention policy in O365 email if you so choose. I'm assuming you have the right license, but if you dont, it'll be cheaper to upgrade the licenses then try and steer a O365 supertanker of email into a small tributary..
