Hiya,

We have started to use the Chat feature more across our 4 Moodles, however system performance degrades significantly (Moodle becomes unusable with 504 errors trying to log in) when a number of chats are used concurrently. I know M Chat has a reputation of being a load on the server but we would like to see if there is any way to improve things. I haven't managed to get the Moodle Chat Daemon working, I'm not sure what improvement that would bring?

I'd like to identify the parts of our server set up that could be tweaked to improve things. I think it is more likely to be a thread issue than a process issue. When I look at system performance 'live' memory usage is quite low. I can't find anything in any of the error logs I looked through - var/log/httpd and var/log/php-fpm. Are there any more logs that would be helpful?

Moodle 6.2.3

Centos 7

Virtual Server 32GB

Thanks,

Nigel.
