mrssevage Posted June 11, 2020 Posted June 11, 2020 Hi, We have purchased few laptops for vulnerable pupils for them to keep. SLT doesn't want school to be responsible for the repairs if anything goes wrong. I need to crate document stating that laptop now belongs to them and its their responsibility if something goes wrong. Has any of you got template of something like that? What else should I include in this document? Any advise really appreciated Thank you

I need to crate document stating that laptop now belongs to them and its their responsibility if something goes wrong. Has any of you got template of something like that? What else should I include in this document? Any advise really appreciated Thank you Are they being purchased for educational purposes? Because if you haven't, and they aren't expected to use them in school, you are liable to pay the VAT on them. I'd be careful signing over the laptop completely. If you're saying that it's under their ownership and their responsibility, aren't you basically saying to them they can now sell it if they're short of cash? What if the parent withdraws the child a week after they've been given it? What happens if they have a miscreant of a parent or sibling who'd steal it, and sell it under them whilst they still have 2 years of schooling to go? Would you give them another one, or basically say "tough!"? If someone purchased me a laptop and told me it was mine to keep, I wouldn't let them turn around and say "Oh and we also are going to install MDM and internet filtering on it so we can keep control of the device" too, for example. It isn't as simple as you saying "Here's a gift, its your problem now!" Edited June 11, 2020 by paulkerton 1
