Jaan Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Hi all, i need to install SIMS Examination Organiser Module on a computer here...... in days gona by, i would rename the sims folder to simsold and manually reinstal it. but how do i add the exam module if we are using solus? Sorry this might be a simple fix.. ta
Linfit Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 The exams module is not a local install, it runs from the server. Anyone who has Exams Operator or Exams Officer permissions in SIMS should be able to run it from the Focus menu. If it is there but giving an error, it may be permissions on the relevant folders on the server not set correctly.
Jaan Posted June 2, 2020 Author Posted June 2, 2020 thanks for this. any idea where i can start to look?
Meldrew Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 Are you (re)installing exams module because it throws an error when someone tries to load it? If so, your rename and reinstall approach is still good. You can either use SOLUS3 to push out SIMS again, or find the correct SIMS release in SOLUS3 and you can use the extract button to get hold of the SIMSApplicationSetup.exe which you can simply install by running it. HTH, Meldrew
Linfit Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 any idea where i can start to look? Depends what exactly is happening - is it not on the Focus Menu ? Or failing silently when you try and run it ? Does it work on another workstation or when run from the server ? If so, its likely a faulty sims on that workstation and best to re-run the install for that workstation from SOLUS. If it tries to load but fails, and you are getting an error, the fix will depend on the error - for exampler if it throws an exception, which sometimes needs a specific patch to be applied to fix it.
Jaan Posted June 3, 2020 Author Posted June 3, 2020 i'll give it a go and report back, just an issue on one client, so i guess a reinstall is the best approach first.
Jaan Posted June 3, 2020 Author Posted June 3, 2020 So after getting this working... it seems the issue is the options module not the exams organiser lol.
jonnykewell1 Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 Hi @jahilton2002 what did you do to fix this please? We've just had a ticket through about the module error 048EF96C.
